This week, Google is adding support for new nations, including India, to its vehicle collision detection technology. Similar to Apple’s functionality for iPhones, Google is now supporting a limited number of Android phones with its auto accident detection technology.
Car crash detection, as the name implies, utilizes your Android phone’s sensors to detect crashes and sounds a warning if one occurs. According to reports, Google has been able to realize all of its potential and has even aided users in reporting on actual events.
Tipster Mishaal Rahman, who consistently provides accurate reports on Android upgrades, gave the information on the arrival of vehicle accident detection in India and a few other countries. Returning to the function, Google is now providing auto collision detection in India, demonstrating the company’s commitment to the nation as it prepares to begin producing the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro by the beginning of 2024.
The Operation of Google Car Crash Detection for Android
First off, Google doesn’t activate the option by default, so you may need to enable it on your Android phone. To do this, take the following actions:
– Go to your Android phone’s settings.
– Find and hit Safety and Emergency by swiping down.
– Search for “auto crash detection” and turn it on.
– You may now get automobile collision alerts on your phone.
When you activate this function, it will be able to identify potential traffic accidents and notify emergency services so they can come aid you when needed. In addition to vibrating and sounding an alert at maximum volume, the phone will even ask the user whether they need assistance. It will then share your position and information about the vehicle collision with emergency responders by calling 112.
After demonstrating its value in other nations, the following nations are currently receiving the feature:
India
Austria
Belgium
Portugal
Switzerland
According to Google, automobile collision detection is now limited to Pixel phones, and even then, you’ll need to have a Pixel 4a or later model—which also includes the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series—in order to use it. Furthermore, the service is limited to a few languages, and users in India do not yet have access to the Hindi version of the tool.
Importantly, Google points you that your phone may not be able to identify every accident, so you could need further help to escape the situation.
