Beginning on November 6, the Western Railway will run 17 additional air-conditioned (AC) local train services in Mumbai, an official said on Saturday. The official said that with the addition of the additional trains, there would be 96 AC local train services overall, up from the current 79.
The Western Railway said in a statement that in order to accommodate the increasing demand from commuters, the train service between Dahanu Road and Andheri stations would be extended up to Churchgate station.
Commencing on November 6, 17 more services will be added in response to the increase in passengers using AC local trains. We have received information that certain trains will not run on weekends.
According to the announcement, the Western Railway now runs 1,394 services, including the AC trains.
