Google has released Bard, an AI chatbot made especially for teens. With the goal of creating a safe and interesting learning environment for younger users, this launch comes after lengthy conversations with professionals and teenagers.
Google demonstrated Bard’s ability to help teens with things like writing speeches or solving arithmetic issues in a blog post written by Tulsee Doshi, Product Head for Responsible AI at Google.
While maintaining a personal Google account requires you to be at least 13 years old, there are several countries that have significantly higher age restrictions. Bard access will comply with these rules. Google promised that the AI chatbot has received training to recognize and prevent youngsters from accessing harmful information.
When responding to fact-based queries, Google will automatically activate the ‘double-check’ option for Bard in order to avoid misrepresentation. Not all Bard users, nevertheless, have this option set as their default at this time.
Adolescent users will get a short onboarding video and an AI literacy guide that will educate them on the fundamentals of Bard’s technology and how to interact critically with generative AI tools.
“For an even more interactive learning experience, we’re integrating a math learning tool into Bard,” Doshi said, highlighting some of the enhanced learning elements of the platform. A math problem may be uploaded or entered by anyone, even teens, and Bard will not only offer the solution but also detailed instructions on how to solve it.”
Additionally, Google released a demonstration video that shows how Bard breaks down a quadratic problem into its most basic processes. Another video showed Bard helping a pupil start a class speech.
When the computer giant launched Bard, designed for adolescents, it placed a strong emphasis on working with families, students, and safety experts.
