Mature maiden Sanju Samson India’s victory against South Africa in the third and final match of the series, which ended on Thursday, was a heady mix of an ODI century and the wiless of a youthful bowling unit on a sticky pitch. Thus, India won the rubber match 2-1, winning their second series on these grounds since 2018. India scored a challenging 296 for eight thanks to measured 108 (114 balls) from Samson and patient 52 (77 balls) from Tilak Varma, his maiden fifty in this format. It was entertaining to see their 116-run partnership for a daring fourth wicket partnership.
Tony de Zorzi’s fifty runs (81 balls) put South Africa in the lead against the visitors, but they were finally bowled out for 218 in 45.5 overs.Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer, guided the Indian bowlers with a respectable four-for-30.De Zorzi and Reeza Hendricks (19) combined for 59 runs in just 8.2 overs as South Africa got off to a strong start in their chase.
