This week, there will be water shortages for two days in a row for residents of Dronagiri, JNPT, Ulwe, Kharghar, and a few other nodes and villages along the Hetawane water supply line in Navi Mumbai.
The water curtailment will take effect on the aforementioned nodes and the villages on January 5 and 6, according to a report from Mumbai Live.
The reason for taking the call is that the CIDCO will soon be doing maintenance and repairs on the supply line. Notably, the Morbe dam, MIDC, and CIDCO provide the potable water for the regions within the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
12 HOUR WATER CUT IN MUMBAI’S NAVI
Meanwhile, from 9 AM on Friday, January 5 to 9 AM on Saturday, January 6, the water supply in the villages along the Hetawane water supply line and the Dronagiri, JNPT, Ulwe, Kharghar, and Taloja nodes in Navi Mumbai would stay blocked.
For the following twenty-four hours, low pressure is also predicted for the water supply. As a result, the CIDCO has urged the locals in the impacted regions to save enough water and utilize it wisely during that time.
Following repair and maintenance work by the NMMC water supply department, the decision was made days after another water cut was announced in a few other NMMC localities, including Belapur, Nerul, Sanpada, Vashi, Ghansoli, Airoli, and others.
It is important to highlight that locals often express their worries on social media about the lack of sufficient water. Because of the frequent maintenance-related shutdowns, locals feel that the NMMC doesn’t care about their situation, despite repeated promises from the municipal body.
This occurs at a period of many water shortages in and around Maharashtra. Residents are therefore consistently urged to practice water conservation and effective usage.
THANE CUT WITH WATER
The Thane Municipal Corporation notified the locals a month ago about a 12-hour water supply stoppage in certain areas that required immediate repair.
The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s water supply to the Thane municipal regions was cut off for 12 hours due to repairs made at the Katai Naka on Barbie gravity channel. The water cut affected areas like Diva, Mumbra, Kalwa, Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2, and a few more.
