Delhi, New: The BJP said today that the Congress’s refusal to allow its three senior leaders to attend the dedication of the Ram temple in Ayodhya has shown the party’s innate hostility to Hinduism and Indian culture.
BJP spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters that the Congress has gone to the length of opposing the nation and is now against God due to its sentiments of “jealousy, malice and inferiority complex” towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that while the Ram temple in Ayodhya represents the best aspects of Indian customs and culture, radical politics is more significant to the Congress and other opposition parties that share this view.
Mr. Trivedi said that while an invitation was also sent to Iqbal Ansari, the Muslim claimant in the land dispute case involving the temple and the Babri mosque that formerly stood there, he accepted it. However, the Congress has decided to abstain from the event.
He said that the primary opposition party has a history of posing obstacles in the way of the nation’s historic moments.
He cited a number of occasions, such as the opening of the new Parliament building, the passing of the GST, and the speeches given by Presidents Ram Nath Kovind and Droupadi Murmu to the legislature, saying, “Whenever the page of history turns, the Congress instead of standing with it has opted to boycott,”
He said that while people have managed to keep the Congress out of power, they are not becoming any smarter. The party had a chance to atone for its previous transgressions, but it has squandered it.
Additionally, he denied the Congress’s claim that the whole event, which was supposed to take place in Ayodhya on January 22, had been usurped by the BJP and the RSS, claiming that there is unity among the people in the temple. According to him, it shouldn’t be associated with any group or philosophy.
The BJP spokeswoman questioned if the Congress still committed to restoring the mosque, which was destroyed in 1992 in Ayodhya by an enraged crowd.
Jawaharlal Nehru, who was prime minister at the time, was reportedly against President Rajendra Prasad and certain Congress leaders being associated with the restoration and opening of the Somnath temple. According to Trivedi, the Congress is carrying on Nehru’s legacy and has rejected Mahatma Gandhi’s “Ram Rajya” doctrine.
He said that after 500 years of hardship, the temple is now rising and has sparked pride in the country.
Congress leaders Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge “respectfully declined” the invitation to attend the consecration of the Ram Temple on Wednesday. The party is accusing the BJP of turning the event into a “political project” in order to win elections.
