Apple has disclosed a fresh security vulnerability that mostly impacts MacBooks from the M-series and earlier iPhone devices. The problem is associated with the GPU that powers the Mac M3 models and models prior to the iPhone 15 series.
Regretfully, there is a danger associated with the security problem if you are using Macs from last year that are powered by M2, and Apple will need to act fast to find a solution for these computers.
The problem with this defect is that, should an attacker manage to get past the security breach and get access to the device, all of the data processed by the chip might be read.
The second major talking point is that GPUs manufactured by Qualcomm, AMD, and other suppliers are also impacted by this bug, so Apple is not the only business that has to be concerned. Because the vulnerability enables the hacker to access data that was left over from the last reading, researchers that have identified the problem have named it LeftoverLocals. Although LeftoverLocals seems like a strange word, its approach is just right.
The good news is that a patch has resolved any potential entry point for this problem if you recently purchased an iPhone or Mac with an A17 or M3 processor.
More significantly, the vulnerability can only be used if the attacker already has access to the system, which is most likely the case at all times. Having said that, users should exercise caution while using and opening attachments on their computers since they may include malware that might compromise the system.
