According to a report by news agency PTI on Tuesday, the Mumbai crime branch police have arrested one more member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in relation to the shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra home. In the firing case, he is the sixth individual to be taken into custody.
An official reported that a team from the Mumbai crime department arrested the offender, 34-year-old Harpal Singh of Fatehabad, Haryana, on Monday night in his hometown. Early on Tuesday morning, Harpal Singh was transported to Mumbai, where he is scheduled to appear in court later that day.
On April 14, two motorcyclists opened fire outside Salman Khan’s apartment at the Galaxy Apartment in the Bandra neighbourhood of Mumbai and then took off.
According to the official, Harpal Singh’s name surfaced during the questioning of accused Mohammed Rafique Chowdhary, a different member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who was taken into custody earlier this month in connection with the firing case.
According to the police, Harpal Singh gave Rafique Chowdhary ₹2–3 lakh in addition to being requested to investigate Salman Khan’s home.
Anuj Thapan, one of the arrested individuals, is said to have hung himself on May 1 in a Mumbai police lock-up after being charged with providing the gunmen with firearms.
The firing case names Lawrence Bishnoi, who is incarcerated at Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s Sabarmati Central Prison, and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi, who is thought to be in the United States or Canada.
