For the first time in three years, congregational Eid prayers will likely be given at this ancient Eidgah, according to a statement made on Tuesday by the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board.
Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairman Darakhshan Andrabi said the prayers will be given at the Eidgah this year if the weather allows while speaking to media after reviewing the preparations for the congregational prayers that are performed following the conclusion of the holy month of Ramzan.
There is a nice environment in Kashmir right now, and the government is trying to have the Eid namaz in the Eidgah, she added. “This year, the Eid namaz will be performed at the Eidgah.
Andrabi said that all preparations will be made to ensure a seamless offering of the prayer.
“Kashmir now aspires to peace, progress, and prosperity. Let’s not dwell on the past “Added she.
The Eidgah is the face of the city, according to the Waqf board head, and it will be improved with suitable amenities.
For the last three years, Eid prayers have not been held in the Eidgah because of concerns about law and order issues.
