On Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asked stakeholders to find and create alternative markets to lessen the impact of the US tariffs on Indian exports and called for a measured response.
Self-assurance under Modi’s direction
The CM went on to say that India is confidently tackling these issues under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Using hardship to create opportunity
Fadnavis stated, “We must strategically convert this adversity into opportunity,” during a high-level meeting to explore policy actions that align with the dynamics of global import-export.
The War Room and 100 Reforms
To enhance its Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) ecosystem, Fadnavis suggested that Maharashtra execute 100 reforms. He also ordered the establishment of a special “War Room” to oversee the execution of these reforms and conduct monthly reviews.
Enhancing industrial parks
According to the CM, Maharashtra should aggressively support private industrial parks and have a clear policy to support their growth even outside of MIDC regions.
Fast-track permits and MSMEs
He underlined the need for a simplified process to expedite permits for industrial settings and the participation of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs).
“The state is dedicated to helping both new and established businesses. To get rid of delays, the single-window clearing system needs to be reinforced. Furthermore, he stated that prior licenses should not be needed for agro-based companies on land parcels larger than five hectares.
In order to guarantee ground-level effects, Fadnavis also demanded that law reforms be successfully conveyed to field-level officials.
Quick clearances and sensible sanctions
To avoid overcharging environmentally friendly enterprises, he directed officials to accelerate land demarcation procedures, shorten the processing time for industrial clearances, and streamline pollution-related fines.
Important reforms.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Maharashtra is the first state in the nation to provide enterprises with biannual fire safety licenses, one of the major EoDB reforms now in place in the state.
Measures to Make Doing Business Easier
The introduction of the Building Plan Management System for industrial construction approvals, the Single Window Power Connection System, which requires only two documents, the passing of the MAITRI Act 2023 for improved coordination in industrial approvals, and the operationalisation of the MILAP Portal for smooth industrial land application and allocation are additional measures.
Future reforms
A land bank or quick industrial land allocation, transparent and time-bound land allocation procedures, enabling environmental clearances within 60 days, district-level investment promotion cells, and the ‘One Block, One Cluster’ policy for cluster-based industrial development are among the reforms in the works, according to the statement.
