The Congress on Sunday named B N Chandrappa as working president of its state unit, days before the Karnataka Assembly elections.
According to a statement from the party, Chandrappa has been named working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
D K Shivakumar is in charge of the Karnataka division.
With the passing of Karnataka Congress working president R Dhruvanarayana last month, Chandrappa was appointed.
142 candidates have been announced by the House as of this writing.
In Karnataka, the only southern state where the BJP is in power, the Congress is attempting to overthrow the saffron party. The 224-member parliament will be chosen in elections on May 10, and the results will be announced on May 13.
