On Sunday, passengers of the Bharat Gaurav Ambedkar Yatra train went to Deekshabhoomi, a significant location in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where B. R. Ambedkar had adopted Buddhism, according to authorities. On Friday, a unique tourist train was set off in Delhi to commemorate the social reformer’s 132nd birthday. The train is transporting visitors to towns around the nation that are connected to the social reformer. On April 15, the train arrived in Indore before continuing on to Ambedkar’s birthplace in Mhow, where the passengers paid respects to the Constitution’s designer. The passengers in Mhow gathered at the Bhim Janmabhoomi memorial hall to talk about Babasaheb Ambedkar’s life, hardships, and other topics.
According to a statement from the Tourism Ministry, the train arrived in Nagpur on Sunday morning, when the visitors visited Deekshabhoomi and Dragon Palace. Ambedkar and thousands of his supporters accepted Buddhism in October 1956 in Deekshabhoomi, a significant location. According to the statement, Babasaheb Ambedkar’s last resting place is in the Deekshbhoomi stupa’s central dome. The visit also marked the end of Indian Railways’ epic 170-year journey, as the first passenger train service between Bombay and Thane began on April 16, 1853.
The Dragon Palace in Kamptee, Nagpur, features a relaxing atmosphere for meditation and is home to a sandalwood Buddha figure that is the main attraction. Late in the evening, the visitors waved goodbye to Nagpur and departed for Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh, according to the statement. Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh is the next stop after Sanchi. Sarnath and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple will also be included in the tour. The train will reach Gaya, Bihar, its last and next destination, on the sixth day of travel. The Mahabodhi Temple and other monasteries in Bodhgaya are popular tourist destinations. The next day, the visitors go by road to Rajgir and Nalanda in Bihar for sightseeing. The important sights include Nalanda’s ruins and Buddhist shrines. The trip will come to an end when the train leaves Gaya for New Delhi.
On April 14, Union Ministers of Tourism G Kishan Reddy and Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar launched off the Bharat Gaurav tourist train excursion on the Ambedkar Circuit at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. Eight days of sightseeing in Maharashtra and Bihar are included in the special train’s eight-day journey. Reddy said that the train also intends to promote domestic tourism and the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat,” adding that the Bharat Gaurav tourist train seeks to provide a glimpse of the life and legacy of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar to all of the passengers.
