In their IPL 2023 encounter on Tuesday night against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians put their trust in rookie left-arm bowler Arjun Tendulkar for the second time in a row. Arjun kept up his impressive performance, ultimately helping the team secure a 14-run victory and move up to sixth place in the standings.
The MI skipper Rohit Sharma managed to contain the fast bowling all-rounder till the penultimate over of the SRH chase after he had bowled two overs for 14 runs. Thanks to Cameron Green’s first IPL fifty, MI set a lofty goal of 193 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Arjun maintained his composure and only conceded five runs off of the same number of deliveries as SRH were bowled out for 178 with 20 to defend off the last over.
When Abdul Samad was lost to a run out by the hosts after the second ball, Arjun successfully caught Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the covers for his maiden IPL wicket.
Sachin Tendulkar, who himself played for MI throughout his playing career, must have been overjoyed to see his son secure MI’s victory.
He praised the top MI performers on Twitter as he celebrated the victory.
“The Mumbai Indians once again put up a fantastic all-around performance. Cameron Green had impressive bat and ball skills. The best batting is provided by Ishan & Tilak! Every day, the IPL becomes more intriguing. Well done, lads!” Sachin composed.
He concluded by stating that a “Tendulkar” had now successfully taken an IPL wicket.
And now a Tendulkar has a wicket in the IPL! “He composed.
In 78 games for MI, Sachin bowled 36 deliveries without recording a wicket.
