Medical experts believe that the reason for the surge in corona cases in the country is the sub-variant XBB.1.16 of Omicron. However, now there is a mutation in this sub-variant and another new sub-variant XBB.1.16.1 is ready.
On behalf of the Consortium INSACOG, which monitors the variant of Corona, it has been said that so far more than 436 cases of XBB.1.16.1 have been reported across the country. These cases have been seen in 18 states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, and Haryana.
The XBB.1.16 variant was revealed in January this year When it was confirmed in two samples. According to INSACOG, 2,735 cases of the XBB.1.16 variant have been reported in 24 states.
