Real Sociedad triumphed 2-0 against Osasuna in the Spanish league, moving closer to securing a Champions League spot.
The victory on Friday increased the pressure on Real Betis to defeat leader Barcelona on Saturday by giving fourth-placed Sociedad a nine-point advantage over fifth-placed Real Betis.
The top four teams in the league advance to the premier tournament in Europe the following season.
The game’s first goal was an own goal by Osasuna custodian Sergio Herrera in the sixth minute.
Herrera made many stops to keep Osasuna in the game, including one in the 67th minute when he managed to deflect Mikel Oyarzabal’s low attempt against his crossbar.
But in the 90th minute, Take Kubo scored again with a low shot that Herrera let go by.
Osasuna, which was in eighth position, still has one league game remaining before facing Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey championship match on May 6.
In their penultimate home game before the Copa final, Osasuna players received lengthy standing ovations from their supporters despite the team’s defeat.
