In Qatar, there will be a further World Cup.The prestigious men’s World Cup will be held in Qatar in 2027, according to the decision made on Friday by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
There was no mention of any competing bids. Basketball Federation said that Doha would host all of the 32-team competition’s games, citing improved public transport and underground systems that were finished in time for the men’s football World Cup that was contested in November and December of last year. During a vast, 12-year construction project to prepare for the football World Cup, Qatar came under fire for how it treated migrant workers who were crucial to the project’s success.
On the night of the 2023 tournament draw, the Basketball Federation made no mention of labour or human rights problems when it announced their choice. Since all venues are within 30 minutes of one another, fans can plan everything in advance and have a unique experience because all teams are playing in the same city, according to the Swiss-based governing body. Additionally, all venues for FIBA’s premier men’s event are already built, and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be delivered as a carbon-neutral event thanks to widely adopted green technologies.
The host qualification will automatically go to the No. 89-ranked Qatari squad. When Qatar last competed in the competition in the 2006 World Championship, it went 0-5 in its five games.Qatar is the third Asian country to hold the men’s competition in a row. From August 25 to September 12, the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia will hold the edition, which China held in 2019. The reigning champion is Spain. Germany will host the women’s World Cup in Berlin in 2026, FIBA also determined on Friday.
