Prime Minister Narendra’s remarks on verbal abuse were addressed by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday. She advised him to take such remarks in stride in public life and to take a cue from her brother Rahul Gandhi, who “is ready to take a bullet for the sake of the country,” in her response.
Targeting the Congress for its party president M. Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark that he was a “venomous snake,” Modi said on Saturday that the party and its leaders have insulted him 91 times so far.
In response to the PM’s remark, Vadra stated during a public event in the Bagalkote district: “At least they (91 abuses) are fitting on one page; if you look at the abuses by them to my family and if we start making a list, we will publish books after books about it.”
“What I’ve been seeing over the last two to three days is weird. I’ve seen a lot of prime ministers, but Indira Gandhi gave her life to defend our nation. I have seen Rajiv Gandhi; he gave his life in service to our nation. Manmohan Singh and P V Narsimha Rao have both worked arduously for our nation, she remarked.
But Modi is the first prime minister I have ever seen to approach you and complain that he is being mistreated. He comes here and tells you his (probs) instead of listening to your sadness.
She made fun of Modi, claiming that someone in his office had compiled a list of those who have repeatedly attacked the Prime Minister rather than the issues facing the general populace.
“Be brave, Modi ji. Learn from Rahul Gandhi, my brother. For the sake of our nation, not only abuse, according to my brother, he is willing to take a bullet. Whether you hit someone, shoot a gun, or stab them with a knife, my brother says he will stand up for the truth, Vadra said.
“Don’t be afraid of Modi ji; such things are part of living in the public eye. “One has to have guts and go on,” she remarked, adding, “Now that I’m talking to you, let me tell you, if you learn one more thing it will be good: listen to the voice of the people.
