The Met Gala 2023 has begun, and the elite of the entertainment and other professions are attending the largest night in the fashion world. What began in 1948 as a social midnight meal is today regarded as one of the most photographed occasions in history.
The extravagant cost of tickets and a table at the first Met Gala draws a lot of attention from the public, despite the fact that exquisite couture dazzles on the red carpet.
Every person who attends the Met Gala is given a seat at the table for the opulent supper. About 400 people attend the lavish red carpet event, all of whom have been chosen by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, and her staff.
According to media estimates, tickets for this year’s Met Gala were a staggering Rs 40 lakh ($50,000), while tables began at Rs 2.45 crore ($3,00,000).
However, one might assume that all of the famous people spend astronomical sums of money to attend the Met Gala. The celebration serves a purpose; the money it raises/earns, which is often in the millions, is donated to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum, which is a self-supporting division. According to reports, the department also presents an annual spring display that welcomes a number of people to the museum.
The Met Gala’s 2018 theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” In commemoration of the late fashion great Lagerfeld, all of the celebrities present in New York City have donned his signature look.
