Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan presented his side in the court in Al-Qadir corruption case. During this, he told the court that whatever money came, it came with the approval of the cabinet. Along with this, he also said that my warrant has come from some other agency. He said what records do they want which I am not giving. I’m afraid you won’t do anything to me.
We spent 100 crores in litigation
Imran Khan said that we have two options. Either we accept that the money came and then the other option is that we go into litigation and lose every case. He said that till date we have spent Rs 100 crore in litigation. Imran Khan alleged that he was harassed and his spectacles were broken. Imran Khan was arrested yesterday in the Islamabad High Court premises in the Al-Qadir corruption case. Imran had reached the court in connection with the hearing but the rangers took him into custody from the court premises.
I haven’t gone to the washroom for 24 hours
During the hearing, Imran Khan said, “I have not gone to the washroom for 24 hours.” They wanted to call their doctor Faizal. I do not want what happened to Maqsu Chaprasi (peon) to happen to me, Imran said, referring to a person involved in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case who was convicted last year, who died in UAE. They give you an injection and the person slowly dies, he alleged.
What is the Al-Qadir Trust case?
In fact, Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and his close aides Zulfikar Bukhari and Babar Awan formed the Al-Qadir Project Trust. The objective of this trust was to establish Al-Qadir University to provide ‘quality education’ in Sohawa tehsil of Jhelum district of Punjab. The address of the trust’s office is mentioned as “Bani Gala House, Islamabad” in university documents.
Bushra Bibi later signed a memorandum of understanding with Bahria Town, a private real estate firm, in 2019 to receive donations. The trust received 458 kanals, 4 marlas and 58 square feet of land from Bahria town as part of its deal. However, according to Home Minister Rana Sanaullah, out of this 458 kanal land, Imran Khan fixed his share and transferred the donated 240 kanal land in the name of Farah Gogi, a close friend of Bushra Bibi.
Sanaullah claimed that the value of this land was undervalued and Imram Khan got her share in the name of the university, adding that the former PM tried to hush up the matter. The scam came to light when Pakistan’s media reported that 180 million Pakistani rupees had been received by the trust, while records showed an expenditure of about 8.52 million Pakistani rupees.
