This time there has been a severe crisis of reserved tickets in the season. Touts are taking advantage of the helplessness of the passengers. Western Railway RPF has busted one such gang, which used to print tickets on fake paper. This is a unique case of ticket booking in itself. Western Railway busted this gang on the basis of suspicion during ticket checking in long distance trains. An official said that the counter ticket shown by the passenger in the ticket checking seemed different. Complete details of ticket booking were taken from the passenger. These were Tatkal tickets, through which the journey was taking place. The passenger told that the ticket was booked through a tout in Mumbai.
Vigilance laid trap
Information was received from the passenger of Kushinagar Express that the ticket was booked by a broker named Aleem in Sakinaka, Andheri. After this information, Vigilance Department’s Manoj Yadav, Sanjay Sharma, Sanjeev Golatkar, Neha Mathur and Ravi Sathe weaved a whole trap and exposed the gang by posing as passengers.
Ticket booking in remote location
Sources said that ticket booking was being done from such locations in the north-eastern states, where the codes are also not present in the system. Tickets were actually being booked at such locations across the country on the demand of touts. The details of this ticket were sent to the broker, who printed the ticket on genuine looking paper.
Outsourcing increased the problem
A railway official told that earlier in-house printing of ticket paper was done but due to outsourcing, such problems have arisen. The officer said that Afzal, the kingpin of this gang, is still absconding. Railways is trying to find out how the touts got this stationery of ticket paper.
