Despite orchestrating Mumbai Indians’ convincing 81-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL Eliminator, Akash Madhwal doesn’t see himself as Jasprit Bumrah’s successor and is content to carry out the duties placed in his charge by the club.
The Uttarakhandian engineer Madhwal contributed stunning figures of 5 for 5 in 3.3 overs to move MI closer to the IPL championship match on Wednesday night.
“I’m doing all I can to carry out the duties assigned to me by the team. After the game, Madhwal told reporters, “I am not Bumrah’s successor, but I’m doing my best to do what I can.
Despite the fact that Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium has not been particularly helpful to pacers this season, Madhwal discussed what has helped him.
“The Chepauk wicket was excellent. As you could see, the ball was skidding rather than grabbing. I am a swing/sling bowler, and I want to get wickets by pitching my deliveries in hard lengths,” he stated.
Rohit Sharma, according to Madhwal, knows how to utilize him and his skills.
“Rohit bhaiya knew that yorkers were my strength but during the nets and practice matches, he also found that I can bowl well with the new ball,” the player said.
He knew how to utilize me when the occasion called for it, so. Because I’m following my passion, I’m also really at ease, comfortable, and having fun.
