Maharashtra: Navi Mumbai Police has arrested six people for stealing and killing the cattle of local farmers. An official gave this information on Friday. Police officer added that the cattle were stolen from Panvel taluka of Raigarh district. The accused were arrested this week.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Panvel Zone-2) Pankaj Dahane said, “Earlier this month two cases were registered in Panvel in which two local farmers alleged that unknown people had stolen their cattle from their shed.” The area saw an increase in cases of cattle theft. He said that following the complaints, the police team traced the accused and arrested them.
He said that it was later learned that after stealing the cattle, the accused also killed them and sold their meat in slaughterhouses. Police said that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the whole matter is being investigated.
