Gujarat Titans (GT), who defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 62 runs in Qualifier 2 on Friday night in Ahmedabad, advanced to the 2023 Indian Premier League championship. Shubman Gill was the Titans’ standout batsman, scoring an astonishing 129 off only 60 deliveries to lead the team to an outstanding victory against Rohit Sharma’s team with a total of 233/3 in 20 overs. When MI reached 171, the reigning champs knocked them out, with Mohit Sharma collecting five wickets.

Karsan Ghavri, Shubman’s childhood coach, made an incendiary statement about the batter’s development, criticising another batter Prithvi Shaw while drawing comparisons between the two. In 2018, India’s U19 World Cup-winning squad included Shaw and Gill. Shaw, on the other hand, is hardly a factor in the Indian setup whereas Gill is a crucial component of the national squad in all forms. Shaw too had a terrible 2023 IPL season, making just 106 runs for the Delhi Capitals in 8 games.

“Shaw believes he is a superstar who is untouchable. But he must understand that at the international level, it just takes one delivery to get you out whether you are playing T20, 50 over, a Test match, or even the Ranji Trophy.
You need self-control and a positive outlook. You must always strive to improve. You must occupy the crease, and if you do so, you will undoubtedly score more runs, according to Ghavri.
Shaw, a young right-handed hitter, has to improve on his weakness, according to Ghavri, who also offered some encouraging words for the young man. They have a similar age.
