At a demonstration held on Saturday in the Mizorami capital of Aizawl, hundreds of people showed their support for Manipur’s tribal people who have been victimised by violence. The Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZORO), which works to bring all Zo people — Chin-Kuki-Mizo-Zomi — back together under a single governmental structure, staged the event.
ZORO general secretary L Ramdinliana Renthlei said that if crimes against the Mizo people in Manipur continue, Mizo youths from Mizoram would come up to protect them. The gathering adopted a number of resolutions, including steps to be done for the peaceful reunification of ethnic Zo tribes under one governmental structure.
The demonstrators also reiterated that the dispersed Zofate or Zo tribes in India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar are of the same stock and have links to one another via blood.
