According to police, two males have been detained on charges of sexually abusing a young girl and taking her gold jewellery from the Marine Drive Abdul Kalam Marg area of this city.
Two guys, Tahir (21) and Ashin (25), were detained by the police, according to a statement issued by the Kochi City Police Commissioner’s office.
The statement added that while Tahir was detained at his Wayanad home, co-accused Ashin was detained close to the Kerala High Court, where the latter had been requested to go by the police.
When Ashin saw the cops, he allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended.
When the victim’s parents reported some missing gold jewellery to the police, the crime was discovered, and when the daughter was questioned, what had happened was made clear.
The victim and Tahir met at Abdul Kalam Marg when the girl visited there during her summer break, according to the girl’s testimony to the police. Police allege that he afterwards used her Instagram ID to talk with her online and then tricked her into thinking he loved her.
According to reports, Tahir introduced himself to the little girl as Vishnu.
According to the police, questioning the two suspects showed that they were leading a lavish lifestyle that included consuming narcotics and money from selling and pawning jewels.
According to the police statement, additional investigation is necessary to determine if the two guys had any other victims and whether similar gangs operated in the area.
