The bridge being built over the river Ganges in Bhagalpur collapsed on Sunday. A slab of this bridge had collapsed a year back. This bridge is being constructed on the river Ganges between Aguwani-Sultanganj of Khagaria, three pillars of which also got immersed in the river. According to the local people, this bridge fell victim to corruption. However, Bihar’s Nitish government and the department have talked about getting it investigated.
Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav on the collapse of the Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bhagalpur, says, “BJP has demolished the bridge. We are building the bridge and they are demolishing it.”
A PIL has been filed in the Patna High Court demanding an independent probe into the collapse of the Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bhagalpur, Bihar.
A bridge is being constructed over the river Ganga on the Aguwani-Sultanganj road, which suddenly collapsed at around 6 pm on Sunday. At the time when the bridge collapsed, the construction work on the bridge had stopped. Because of this, no one was present on the bridge. As the bridge plunged into the Ganga like a house of cards, several feet high waves of river water rose, horrifying people sitting on the roadside. The local people made a video of the bridge collapse incident. The video has gone viral on social media.
