In a tragic incident in suburban Santacruz, Mumbai, a 35-year-old man lost his life on Monday afternoon when he fell from a two-storey building while trying to dislodge a mattress stuck in a tree. The police have identified the deceased as Vijay Gupta, a resident of the ‘Hanumant Vijay’ building, where he lived with his family.
According to an official from the Vakola police station, Gupta noticed a mattress entangled in a tree located in the adjacent building. He decided to use a bamboo pole to retrieve it from his rooftop. Unfortunately, while attempting to carry out the task, Gupta lost his balance and tragically fell from the building. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An eyewitness to the incident mentioned that the strong winds might have caused the mattress to get lodged in the tree. Gupta’s family members had advised him against trying to remove it, but he disregarded their warnings. As a result, he suffered fatal head injuries after falling from the building. The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
