A 20-year-old boy has been apprehended in Maharashtra’s Thane district on charges of murdering his friend and disposing of the body in a river, according to an official statement on Saturday. The suspect claimed that he resorted to the extreme act because his deceased parents were frequently subjected to abusive remarks by the victim.
Senior Inspector Prasad Pandhre of Murbad police station reported that on June 11, a body tied to a large stone was discovered in a river within their jurisdiction. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the Murbad police regarding the disappearance of a man named Hemant, also known as Kiran Nandu Kadav (24), from the Dhanivali area. It was later confirmed that the recovered body belonged to Kadav.
Based on intelligence information and technical leads, the police focused their investigation on Kadav’s friend, Radheshyam Mohilal Singh. The authorities discovered that Singh had lost his parents at a young age and had befriended Kadav six months prior, occasionally drinking together. The suspect disclosed that Kadav would frequently make derogatory remarks about Singh’s deceased parents, leading Singh to grow weary of his friend’s snide comments.
Driven to his limit, Singh struck Kadav with a stone and strangled him to death before disposing of the body in a nearby river, as stated by the official.
