An official claimed on Friday that the Mumbai police detained a man passenger aboard a Vistara aircraft from Mumbai to Delhi after a crew member overheard him discussing “hijacking” over the phone.
According to the official, the incident happened on Thursday night at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
“A member of the Vistara flight crew overheard a male passenger discussing hijacking on his phone. The aircraft was headed to Delhi. The crew member notified the authorities right away, and the police were contacted as well, the police officer said, according to PTI.
The guy claimed that his talk on the aircraft was caused by his mental illness.
According to the official, a first information report (FIR) was filed against the passenger under section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which prohibits acts that risk human life or the personal safety of others.
