A 19-year-old woman was allegedly attacked and injured by her friend in Maharashtra’s Pune city on Tuesday. The police said that the incident took place at around 10 am in the Perugate area of Sadashiv Peth.
A police officer said, A 19-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by a 21-year-old man with a sharp weapon in Perugate area of Sadashiv Peth. The incident took place around 10 am. The victim and the accused were students of the same college. the girl recently stopped talking to the boy.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill said, “This morning, the girl was going somewhere on a motorcycle with another friend, when the boy approached her. As soon as the boy tried to talk to the girl, But she refused to talk. This enraged the young man and took out a sharp weapon and attacked the girl.
Then the girl’s friend tried to stop the young man and after getting the opportunity, the girl ran away. Police said the assailant chased the girl but was stopped by the people around. The girl sustained injuries on her head and hand and was released after first aid, the official said.
In the CCTV footage of the incident, the girl is seen riding a motorcycle along with one of her friends, while the accused is seen walking on the road and talking to her. The person on the motorcycle then gets down to confront the accused, but the accused takes out a sharp weapon from his bag and starts attacking the person before chasing the woman. The officer said that the accused has been taken into custody. Pune Police DCP Sandeep Gill said that a case has been registered against the accused under section 307 of the IPC.
