Aaditya Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT) and a former minister, stated on Thursday that the Supreme Court’s decision about the political crisis in Maharashtra in 2022 has supported his long-held position that the Eknath Shinde-led government is “illegal and unconstitutional.”
When Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar makes a decision on the matter, he claimed all 40 Shiv Sena rebel MLAs who rose up against the party leadership in June of last year would be disqualified in two to three months.
The Supreme Court ruled on a number of petitions pertaining to the political crisis brought on by a revolt within the undivided Shiv Sena on Thursday, holding that it could not reinstate the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray because he resigned without going through a floor test in June of last year. As a result, Shinde will continue to serve as the chief minister of Maharashtra.
The junior Thackeray told reporters, “I have been saying this that the (Shinde) administration is unlawful and unconstitutional, and the SC ruling has verified that.
In its ruling, the SC criticized former Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, claiming that he lacked justification based on the evidence at hand for coming to the conclusion that Thackeray had lost the House’s trust.
Aaditya Thackeray said that the Governor was more of a “BJP person” and that he was instrumental in overthrowing the MVA administration.
