According to a government release, the Indian Army helped 300 additional tourists who were trapped in the North Sikkim area because of landslides and obstructions. On Sunday, 300 stranded tourists in Chungthang in North Sikkim received assistance from the Striking Lion Division and Trishakti Corps to cross a makeshift bridge and continue their journey to the state capital Gangtok, according to the report.
The Army gave the stranded visitors food, a place to stay, and medical comfort. According to the statement, the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps soldiers helped the Sikkim government rescue 3,500 tourists who were trapped in the North Sikkim area on Saturday. In light of weather-related whims and ongoing restoration efforts for roads severely damaged by landslides, North Sikkim District Collector (DC) Hem Kumar Chettri stated on Sunday that no new permits will be issued to tourists for them to visit the picturesque district, even though all stranded travelers have been rescued. The BRO, GREF, ITBP, Army, and district authorities were congratulated by the district collector for the visitors’ safe evacuation. According to him, “We have decided not to issue new permits to tourists for the time being to visit North Sikkim due to the restoration of roads underway between Mangan-Chungthang
