Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, has been asked by a priest at Ayodhya’s Hanumangarhi Temple to live with monks there once he leaves his government house, which was given to him as an MP.
Gandhi was recently ordered to vacate the mansion after he was expelled from the Lok Parliament and given a two-year term in a criminal defamation case by a Gujarat court.
Others saw the “offer” as a declaration of support for the Congress from the mahant of a temple in a BJP stronghold.
Priest Sanjay Das remarked, “We, the seers of Ayodhya, welcome Rahul Gandhi to our sacred city and give him our place to dwell.”
Mahant Gyan Das, the venerable seer of Hanumangarhi, left Mahant Sanjay Das as his successor. The Sankat Mochan Sena’s national president is Sanjay Das.
Das told PTI that Gandhi is welcome to move into the Hanumangarhi campus and reside there if he so chooses.
“Rahul Gandhi needs to go to Ayodhya, stop by Hanumangarhi, and pray there. He should come and stay in our ashram; we would be pleased to have him, he said. There are numerous such ashrams around the Hanumangarhi campus region.
