Ambati Rayudu, a batsman for the Chennai Super Kings, has explained that his previous tweet on life’s “ups and downs” wasn’t intended as a jab at great Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Rayudu’s performance this season has been lackluster; he has scored only 83 runs in 8 games, with a best score of 27*. After his most recent loss against the Rajasthan Royals, Gavaskar was enraged by the 37-year-old’s impact performance for the team. Rayudu was ejected after recording a second-ball duck.
The CSK player responded to claims that his previous post from Friday, in which he discussed his thoughts on the “ups and downs” of life and sports, was a jab at Gavaskar, by mocking them on Twitter.
Such rubbish, My tweet has nothing to do with Mr. Gavaskar’s remarks, however I appreciate his perspective in relation to my fielding. “A player does not choose whether or not to field,” Rayudu tweeted.
In an earlier Tweet on Friday afternoon, Rayudu encouraged people to retain a good outlook and to keep working hard because things will eventually improve.
Ups and downs are a constant in both life and sports. Results are not always a gauge of our effort, therefore we need to be optimistic and keep working hard for things to change. So always remember to smile and take pleasure in the process,” Rayudu wrote on Twitter.
Gavaskar had already said that Rayudu’s dismissal for a second-ball duck against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday was mostly due to a lack of on-field activity. In order to prove his case, the great batter even made comparisons between Rayudu and Prithvi Shaw.
You arrived to the field. You cannot just go up to the plate and begin hitting the ball. No, you can’t. That was demonstrated by Prithvi Shaw. He recently tried to come out to bat but was unsuccessful. No fielding means no points. Sunil Gavaskar allegedly said, “Rayudu is out for a second-ball duck,” when providing commentary during the IPL 2023 match between Rajasthan and Chennai.
