Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a vicious assault on Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi of the Congress on Saturday, claiming that their origins “are from Italy and not from India.”
Shah attacked the Gandhis in Madhya Pradesh, a state that was about to have elections.
Speaking at a vote rally in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, which is about to have elections, Shah remarked, “People are discussing India’s growth wherever they go. People are hailing the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken India to unprecedented heights on the international scene during the last nine years.
Congress does not see anything favorable. Shah said, “This brother and sister, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, keep traveling the nation and asking, ‘What happened?’ Well, they won’t understand because their roots are in Italy, not India,” according to the HT story.
Congress once tried to impede and halt the building of the Ram Mandir. The people of Madhya Pradesh awarded PM Modi a lot of seats in 2019 and elected him to office a second time. He then went and quietly lay the foundation stone for the Ram Mandir, where Lord Ram’s statue would be placed in January, Shah said.
At the MP Congress head Kamal Nath’s stronghold of Chhindwara, Shah took aim at the outgoing chief minister.
“Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh supporters are willing to rip one other’s garments. Madhya Pradesh cannot advance with a party like this that lacks unity and pursues politics for the sake of a “family,” he said.
The BJP wants to hold onto power in Madhya Pradesh, where elections for the state’s 230-member legislature are scheduled on November 17. In the 2018 election, the BJP secured 109 seats, while the Congress, led by Kamal Nath, secured 114 seats and established a government. But in 2020, Nath was forced to step down when the administration was reduced to a minority due to the resignation of 23 Congress MLAs, six of whom were ministers.
After the Congress administration collapsed, the BJP once again established the government under Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
