The president of the saffron party’s state unit, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, asserted that the video was uploaded by a “enthusiastic” party member and that no incorrect interpretation should be made of it a day after the Maharashtra BJP released an old clip of former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis declaring that he will return to lead the state.
Speaking with media in Palghar on Friday, Bawankule said that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will lead the Maharashtra government in the next elections. As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s preparations for the Lok Sabha elections, he was visiting the Palghar district.
A four-year-old video of Fadnavis declaring he would take back control of the state was uploaded by the Maharashtra BJP on Friday, sparking conjecture among the political community.
