Maharashtra assembly elections can be held by November this year. The leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi have suspected this. This is the reason that last Sunday, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar hastily called a meeting of Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders at his home. During this, Sharad Pawar, the Chanakya of Maharashtra politics, advised everyone to be ready for the elections. On this advice of Pawar, the political stir in all the three parties has suddenly intensified.
Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray have called a meeting of their respective parties on Wednesday and issued an order to the cadre to prepare for the elections. On the other hand, Congress, excited by the victory in Karnataka, has also called a meeting of the State Executive on the 23rd. A meeting of the Congress State Core Committee has also been held on the same day. Apart from these three parties, BJP’s national president J.P. Nadda’s two-day visit to Maharashtra and the state executive meeting held in Pune on Thursday are also part of the upcoming election preparations.
Three big things discussed by MVA leaders
In the meeting held at Sharad Pawar’s house, a senior leader who participated in the meeting told the summary of the discussion on the election and the decision of the Supreme Court. The three main points that emerged in the discussion are as follows:
There is apprehension that BJP may hold assembly elections in the state by the end of the year after the defeat in the results of the Karnataka assembly elections and the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Shiv Sena. So that the anti-incumbency or the anger among the people can be released in the assembly elections and after that the BJP can be saved from the possible loss in the Lok Sabha elections.
The Supreme Court has asked the Speaker of the Assembly to take a decision regarding the disqualification of 16 MLAs. Bharat Gogavale’s whip has been declared illegal by the Supreme Court. This clearly means that at that time only the whip issued by Shiv Sena’s whip Sunil Prabhu was in force. That is, the MLAs who went with Shinde have violated Shiv Sena’s whip. All this is recorded in the records of the Assembly. That means suspension of 16 MLAs is certain. If the Supreme Court wanted, it itself could have disqualified him, but it wants to get it done through the Speaker only.
After the decision of the Supreme Court, the opposition took the message among the public that the Shinde government is unconstitutional. Now the more the BJP tries to save this government, the worse its image will be in the public. Ultimately only the Maha Vikas Aghadi will get its benefit. There is still a full year for the term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly to end, for so long even the Speaker cannot keep the decision hanging, so the Speaker will have to disqualify 16 MLAs. In which Chief Minister Shinde is also there. In such a situation, the fall of the government is certain.
If the government is certain to fall, what will be the game plan of BJP?
On this question, the senior leader of Maha Vikas Aghadi said that by the end of this year, elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana in November-December. It is quite possible that along with this, the BJP may hold assembly elections in Maharashtra as well. Because the kind of atmosphere in the state against BJP and Shinde and the wave of sympathy is being seen in favor of Uddhav. The BJP would hardly take the risk of facing the Lok Sabha elections before the assembly elections or holding assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha. Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said two days ago in Pune that elections to the metropolitan municipalities may be held in the state in October-November. Leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi believe that Fadnavis has deliberately named the election of metropolitan municipalities. While the real preparation is for holding the assembly elections.
