According to authorities, at least 18 people have died in Bihar in the last day as a result of lightning strikes during the present monsoon season.
Five of the deaths were recorded in the Rohtas district, four in Arwal, three in Saran, two in East Champaran and Aurangabad, and one in each of the districts of Banka and Vaishali.
Each victim’s family would get Rs 4 lakh in compensation, according to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The disaster management organisation has urged residents, particularly those in rural regions, to stay away from agricultural fields, trees, electric poles, and temporary clay homes while it is pouring.
Urban dwellers have also been advised not to go to roofs of buildings, refrain from touching electrical appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners, and keep away from windows during rain.
