Up to 50 sheep may have been killed early on Tuesday morning in Maharashtra when a speeding vehicle hit them, according to the police. The accident occurred inside the boundaries of the Nagpur district’s Mauda police station.
According to the police, at approximately 3.15 in the morning, a speeding truck drove over a shepherd, Gova Rabbani (53), a native of Kutch in Gujarat, while he was leading a flock of sheep towards the Chapegadi Kuhi region.
They said that the truck driver left the scene with the vehicle as the collision occurred, killing up to 50 sheep there and injuring 15 more critically.
According to the authorities, the shepherd lost 5 lakh rupees as a result of the mishap.
The police have filed a complaint under the terms of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Indian Penal Code.
