Sanjay Raut, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), said on Wednesday that the police prevented him from accessing the grounds of a sugar mill in Daund, Pune district, where he intended to go to leave floral tributes at the monument of the sugar factory’s late founder. At Bhima-Patas Cooperative Sugar Mill in Daund, around 75 km outside of Pune City, the event took place. The Rajya Sabha member and a few other people were subsequently let in, according to the police.
The event, according to Raut, was an effort to conceal the flaws in the manufacturing. Rahul Kul, a legislator for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), controls the sugar factory. In a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sent last month, Raut accused Kul of misappropriating $500 million in cash and asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to look into the claims. On Wednesday, the police halted Raut’s motorcade as it approached the entrance of the sugar factory.
The cops were seen at the gate requesting Raut’s companions to produce a NOC (no objection certificate) from the sugar mill administration in order to enter. They want to enter to present flowers to the statue of the late Madhukar Shitole, who founded the sugar plant, according to Raut. When the police refused to let him leave, Raut argued that the location was public property and that the farmers and members had chosen the chairman and other management members.
When asked whether it was an abuse of authority, Raut called it “goodaism” and said they were prepared to reply similarly. “I’ve been a member of parliament for the last 20 years, yet these folks refused to let me in. It demonstrates how terrified people are, he added. He also said that he will seek a privilege motion in Parliament against the police.”The incident where we were stopped shows that there are irregularities in the sugar mill, which they want to hide,” he said.
Later, Raut and a few other mill workers were let in.Only Raut and a few other members were permitted to enter and present flowers to the monument since section 144 (unlawful assembly) had been applied, according to a police official. Later, the leader of Sena (UBT) spoke before a large crowd in Daund.
