In the second one-day international of the series against India in Visakhapatnam, Australian captain Steve Smith called for India to bat after winning the toss. After his absence from the first ODI due to family obligations, Rohit Sharma took over as India’s captain. Ishan Kishan, who began the batting in the previous game, was replaced by Rohit in the lineup.
“A bowl will be served. Diverse surface, having been covered for some time, could have an effect. We might have benefited from even a simple middle-ground cooperation. Playing on these surfaces is a terrific learning experience for us. Maxwell, who pulled up a little sore, is replaced by Ellis, and Carey is brought in in place of Inglis “Smith stated.
“Pitch has been covered for a while; we need to bat effectively and assess our situation. Every game you play for India is under pressure, therefore you must maintain composure and choose wisely. In the most recent ODI series we played, we made an effort to stay composed. Two alterations. I am returning for Ishan, Shardul is absent, and Axar is present “said Rohit.
On the strength of some excellent performances with bat and ball, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in Mumbai. In the Wankhede Stadium, India decided to bowl first and held the visitors to a meager 188 after surviving an early storm thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s outstanding performance. Ravindra Jadeja removed Marsh after he had hit 81 points off of 65 balls.
The best bowler for India was the quick Mohammad Shami, who took three wickets in six overs while allowing very few runs to be scored. Mohammed Siraj, who also grabbed three wickets, gave him excellent assistance. Jadeja took two wickets for a total of 46 runs.
The response from India was far from ideal. Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill were all back in the pavilion as they lost four wickets in just a little more than 10 overs. With the team’s score at 83, acting captain Hardik attempted to resuscitate the innings alongside KL Rahul but perished. After that, Rahul and Jadeja made sure there were no more problems, and India made it home with five wickets and little over 10 overs remaining. Jadeja was undefeated at 45 off 69 balls, while Rahul was still in the game after 75 balls and 91 pitches.
India will want to win in Visakhapatnam so that they can take a commanding 2-0 series lead. The series’ final game is scheduled on March 22 in Chennai.
