Spinner Kuldeep Yadav of India said on Sunday that defeating the reigning champions, England, at the World Cup “wasn’t that tough,” but it was still a fantastic win.
Before Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, two fast bowlers, combined to knock out the opposition for 129 in 34.5 overs, India had reached 229-9.
“It was nice to win, especially against the reigning champions,” Kuldeep, who claimed two wickets, including England captain Jos Buttler, who bowled for ten, said to reporters.
“So far, they don’t having the fantastic tournament. They confined us for around 230 days, so it wasn’t too difficult.
The left-arm wrist spinner said, “We just tried to bowl in perfect areas and make them make mistakes after they were four down for 40 runs. We thought probably we had to pick early wickets to be in the game and certainly Jasprit and Shami did.”
In order to flatten the opposing batting, Shami recorded figures of 4-22 while Bumrah struck three times, including a hat-trick early on. Kuldeep Yadav bowled England captain Jos Buttler for ten runs despite a lot of dew. Half of the England team was back in the hut when the ball went in sharply off a length, and Buttler had no idea why. Livingstone was then caught lbw and out for 27 by Yadav.
England won the championship for the first time in the 2019 World Cup after India was defeated.
In my opinion, circumstances are quite important. When asked to compare the England of 2019 with the current squad, Kuldeep said, “They have the best team.”
“They have the same guys and have played some pretty outstanding cricket throughout the years. Thus, nothing changes.
India’s victory maintained their unbeaten record in the competition, while England, the reigning champion, continued their appalling losing streak. Following the defeat, hosts India tops the 10-team rankings with six victories from six games, two points ahead of South Africa and four ahead of Australia and New Zealand. England, however, is wallowing in last position with only one victory from six games.
