According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has begun outlining strategies to lower Manchester United’s total payroll expenditures. Last year, the head of Ineos purchased a quarter of the club’s shares. With this purchase, the Glazer family transferred the largest share of their ownership that they had since regaining control over two decades earlier. It was rumored that Ratcliffe would take over as manager of Manchester United’s football operations, provided they retain a sufficient number of shares. Ratcliffe has already determined who the player is, but the Premier League authorities has not yet approved the contract. In order to keep things financially stable, the player’s pay scale has to be discussed.
Ratcliffe is keen to reduce Casemiro’s weekly pay, according to a Sun article. Casemiro is still under contract with Manchester United for more than two years. In the summer of 2022, the Brazilian midfielder left Real Madrid to join the Red Devils.
Manchester United paid an initial £60 million to seal his signature, making him the sixth most expensive player in the team’s history. Casemiro’s current deal pays him £350,000 a week. Ratcliffe and his Ineos team may reassess the agreement with Casemiro in an effort to save money.
Cameron has played for the Red Devils in 63 appearances in all competitions since moving to Manchester. The seasoned midfield player has seven assists in addition to 11 goals scored. After missing more than a month of training because of a hamstring injury, Casemiro has just started back up.
With the arrival of Ratcliffe, Manchester United may reevaluate the futures of a few more players in addition to Casemiro. When Anthony Martial’s current contract ends this summer, he will be freed. The Old Trafford management will want to maximize his exit since it is doubtful that the attacker would be allowed to go free.
This January transfer window has already seen Manchester United finalize a few agreements. Donny van de Beek has been loaned out to Eintracht Frankfurt of the Bundesliga. Also, Sergio Reguilon has rejoined Tottenham Hotspur after his short-term deal expired. Jadon Sancho, among other things, is scheduled to return on a season-long loan to his previous club, Borussia Dortmund.
