Prior to the opposition bloc INDIA’s conference here on August 31 and September 1, representatives of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) met with Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar.
Ambadas Danve, the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, told reporters after their meeting with Phansalkar on Tuesday that their delegation had discussed security measures prior to the INDIA alliance meeting, which will be attended by prominent opposition figures, including chief ministers from various states.
Along with Danve, other members of the delegation included Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Desai, Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule, and Mumbai Congress chairman Varsha Gaikwad.
The first meeting of the INDIA bloc took place in Patna in June, while the second was held in Bengaluru last month.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), now headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, will be challenged by the opposition front known as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, abbreviated as INDIA, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
During the front’s meeting in Mumbai, the opposition INDIA alliance logo is set to be revealed, according to prior reports.
