BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar won the Chandigarh mayoral election, and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal blamed “cheating in broad daylight” for the victory. He initially responded to the news by stating that the BJP could “stoop so low” to win the Lok Sabha elections if it could “stoop so low” in the mayoral polls.
“It is quite concerning how electoral tampering occurred in broad daylight during the Chandigarh mayor’s race. These guys are capable of anything in the national elections if they can sink to such low levels in a mayor’s race. This is really concerning. “Kejriwal wrote in Hindi on X.
Manoj Sonkar of the BJP defeated Kuldeep Kumar of the AAP on Tuesday in Chandigarh’s mayoral elections.
Together with the Congress, the AAP ran in the election. In the 35-member assembly, the AAP-Congress coalition received a higher total of votes than the BJP.
The original date of the Chandigarh mayoral elections was January 18. But because the presiding officer was sick, they were postponed indefinitely.
The poll is to take place on January 30, per an order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
JP Nadda, the head of the BJP, praised the party’s Punjab branch for winning.
“Congratulations to the Chandigarh Unit of the BJP on their victory in the mayoralty.” UTs have shown remarkable progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction. That the BJP won their first election despite the INDI Alliance’s efforts indicates that neither their chemistry nor their math are working’, he wrote on X.
What occurred during the Chandigarh municipal elections?
