The BJP said on Sunday that the BJD gained wealthy while in power in Odisha, but that the ordinary people remained poorer as a result, forcing them to go outside of the state to work as laborers. The BJP demanded a white paper on migration.
Lekhashree Samantasinghar, the general secretary of the BJP, said that during the state’s 23 years of power, the governing party increased its wealth at the expense of the state’s citizens while earning Rs 307 crore, the second-highest revenue among regional parties.
Odisha is a wealthy state with abundant natural resources and mineral reserves, but, according to her, locals were not involved in developing the full potential of these resources.
Samantasinghar alleged that at least 10 migrant workers had died under odd circumstances in the last three months, pointing out that the people of Odisha are compelled to travel to other states in quest of job.
She said that both the state administration and the governing party were unsympathetic to the condition of migrant workers.
She said that the state administration purposefully failed to keep track of migrant labor.
According to the data made public on Saturday, BJD also had the most growth in its revenue, coming in at Rs 233.941 crore.
According to BJD vice president Debi Mishra, it was a demonstration of openness.
Money now plays a significant role in electioneering, and it is sometimes said that political parties use their funds improperly. But, the BJD is transparent in this regard, he told PTI.
The DMK, BJD, YSR Congress, JDU, and AAP are among the ten regional parties that have disclosed receiving contributions via electoral bonds totaling Rs. 852.88 crore in 2021–22. According to the ADR, the DMK, which is now in control of Tamil Nadu, recorded the most revenue at Rs 318 crore.
In 2021–22, the BJP was responsible for more over half of all national parties’ revenue, according to an ADR study that was published last month.
The combined revenue of the eight recognized national parties was Rs 3,289.34 crore, although the BJP alone reported Rs 1,917.12 crore.
