According to an NDTV report, DK Shivakumar, the head of the Karnataka Congress, declared on Friday that his party will be able to win the election by itself.
A day before the keenly monitored state election results are made public, Shivakumar makes the aforementioned statement.
According to the article, he denied rumors that it may be defeated by a possible coalition between the BJP and the Janata Dal-Secular, or JD-S.
The party predicted that Shivakumar, who is rumored to be a contender for chief minister, will win roughly 150 seats in the 224-member legislature, considerably beyond the majority threshold of 113.
“I’m not going to alter my goals. I won’t alter my figures. We’ll have the Congress party in charge. We had a lot of strong leaders. Our national leaders went there and gave it their all. Additionally, Siddaramaiah and a number of other leaders traveled the whole state of Karnataka. We’ll have a decent number of people,” Shivakumar was quoted as saying in the article.
In addition, he denied that his party and the JD-S, which is thought to play a kingmaker role in the event of a hung legislature, had held any discussions.
According to the report, he said that the Congress will form the government on its own and that he did not want to comment on the BJP’s efforts to court the JD-S.
“The JD-S and BJP have not had any conversations. We’ll create the government from scratch. Let them speak. I don’t want to weigh in on their conversation,” he was reported as saying.
He was reported in the article as saying, “Both my former Congress presidents, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, will decide.”
