On Monday, January 15, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai made public the third installment of the “DMK files,” which contains serious accusations against the opposition’s alliance, the INDIA bloc, in relation to the 2G scam inquiry. In a post on X, Annamalai stated that the ruling party in the state, DMK, and its coalition partner, Congress, purportedly conspired to deliberately arrange the date of CBI raids.
He went on to accuse the Congress and the DMK of manipulating the investigation to fit their needs.
An audio exchange between DMK MP and former minister TR Baalu and MS Jaffar Sait, the former head of Tamil Nadu State Intelligence, was included in the post.
The statement in Annamalai’s post said, “This is one of the many tapes that will expose the corrupt nature of the I.N.D.I. Alliance, which held a different name between 2004 and 2014. #DMKFiles3.”
“First tape: Conversation between DMK MP and former Min. Thiru TR Baalu and MS Jaffar Sait, a former chief of TN State Intelligence. It further claimed that “DMK and Congress fixed the process to suit their convenience, manipulated news to dilute the probe, and decided the timing of the CBI raids during the 2G probe.”
K. Annamalai, a leader of the BJP, also made a hint about additional revelations to come in the next few days. In the meantime, the Delhi High Court is continuing its hearings on the petitions filed by the CBI and ED against the exoneration of former Telecom Minister A. Raja and other defendants in the 2G Spectrum Allocation case.
In his “DMK files part-2,” published earlier in April 2023, Annamalai took aim at MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, and charged him with embezzling millions of rupees—roughly Rs. 1,30,000 crores—from the people.
The head of the BJP sent a memo to Governor RN Ravi about this later in July 2023. The BJP chairman charged DMK officials with having disproportionate wealth in the first installment of the “DMK files,” which was also made public earlier in 2023.
Subsequently, he unveiled a roughly fifteen-minute video clip titled “DMK Files (Part-I)” that presented the asset valuation.
