On Friday, BJP leader and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the “deteriorating” peace and order in Himachal Pradesh was due to the Congress administration.
The administration’s “indifferent attitude towards the brutal murder of a youth in Chama district who was chopped into pieces and its failure to take quick action have lowered the credibility of the government,” he said.
The opposition leader in the assembly said that the outrage of the populace over concerns of law and order was “fully justified.”
Thakur cited two incidents as “examples of the worsening law and order situation” in the state: a fatality in Nalagarh and violent fights between taxi unions in Shimla.
He stated, alluding to the pre-election pledges made by the Congress, “It appears that the government was spoiling the situation to divert the attention of the people from the 10 guarantees given during the last assembly polls.”
