Another round of cluster meetings was conducted on Tuesday in the capital by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meetings with NDA MPs from Rajasthan and Maharashtra were conducted this time.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the grand old party was only motivated by the egotistical interests of the Gandhi family as part of his ongoing criticism of the Opposition, notably the Congress. He said, “They destroyed the dreams of many great leaders who were prime minister material in their pursuit of selfish objectives. Pranab Mukherjee and Sharad Pawar, both very capable people, were never given the chance to be prime ministers.
The previous president Pranab Mukherjee had promised the prime minister that he would stand out from the crowd during their contacts, which the prime minister also recalled.
The Prime Minister asked his colleagues to embrace the spirit of the Quit India movement by working to rid the country of corruption, appeasement, and dynasty politics while the emphasis remained on the assault on dynasty politics.
Modi gave a personal example, stating that he has never been afraid to take decisive action against individuals who are engaged in wrongdoing, even when in power. According to a source, the PM reportedly informed the MPs that “such people have been stripped of the responsibility or have also been denied tickets” on several occasions.
With elections later this year in the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi said that the BJP must win there because of the state’s present total chaos.
The Prime Minister urged the party leaders to stick united at both of these sessions, particularly in Maharashtra where there is a three-party coalition between the NCP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the BJP.
The Prime Minister made a suggestion that the BJP did not leave or withdraw from any coalition in the context of Maharashtra without specifically identifying any particular party. According to sources, the allusion was made to Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, which claimed the BJP had betrayed them.
The Prime Minister urged NDA party leaders to maintain contact with local residents and spread word about central government initiatives.
In addition, PM Modi emphasized the importance of the NDA coalition during the last 25 years. Since Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s reign, this partnership has endured the test of time, even through protracted stints in the opposition.
The region-based clusters have met nine times in the last several weeks. With the PM present at all sessions, the NDA has split itself into 11 clusters. The PM will meet with MPs from the contesting states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
